Printable heat transfer vinyl is so much fun to work with, and with a little practice, it is easy to get the hang of. Here is a quick overview of how to use printable HTV so you can take your craft projects to the next level.
What you Need
All you will need is your HTV cutter, like a Cricut or Silhouette, heat transfer paper, any inkjet printer, and a heat press or home iron.
Printable HTV Instructions
Print your image on any standard inkjet printer using the print and cut feature on your cutter’s software.
Load the printed image into your vinyl cutter to cut out the design – DO NOT MIRROR THE IMAGE. You can also carefully trim around the image with scissors.
Remove the design from the paper backing.
Place design on top of garment
Place a Teflon sheet or piece of parchment paper on top of design
Pressing Printable HTV with Heat Press (recommended)
Set heat press temperature to 360° F
Press design for 15-20 seconds
Allow time to cool
Remove Teflon sheet or parchment paper
Enjoy your finished product
Pressing Printable HTV with Home Iron
Set home iron to the cotton or highest setting. DO NOT use steam
Use even and heavy pressure
Press design for 1 minute
Allow time to cool
Remove Teflon sheet or parchment paper
Enjoy your finished product
